LawnBott LB3500 Review-LawnBott LB3500 Conclusion

Every time I have to go outside I am in awe of the LawnBott LB3500.  For the last 2 1/2 years I have been working and selling robotic lawnmowers, and this machine is inspiring.

Almost There

Finally, we are approaching the end of this marathon review.  If you cheated and crossed the finish line early, I don't blame you.  I actually wrote this conclusion before I was finished. (GRIN)

Even though I have been working with robotic lawnmowers for over 2 years and have spent hundreds of hours demonstrating them across the country, I still enjoy watching them work in my own yard as if it were the first time.  For those of you who don't know, that is called love.  I know because 28 years later I still have the same pleasure being with my wife.

The LawnBott LB3500 is fun to watch, sometimes hitting the wire, sometimes bouncing off obstacles.  Which way is it going to turn?  Is it going to hit that patch of grass or that leaf this pass?  Sometimes I root for the mower sometimes I root for the grass patch.

The "Money Shot" in my demonstrations is sending the mower back to the charging base.  No matter how many times I see it happen- it doesn't matter that I know how the story is going to end- watching the mower follow the wire back to the charger and actually docking is always the feeling of hitting the last second shot to win the game.  Always.

Laying the wire is not difficult.  Plan on fixing a few cut wires in the beginning.  But once everything is set up, life gets good quickly.

If you have a lot of trees with roots above ground plan on spending some extra time either putting perimeter wire around them or chopping them level to the ground.  Creative wire laying can get around most problems.

Plan on the first couple weeks automating your yard.  There might be holes to fill in or adjusting the wire here and there.  Once the LawnBott LB3500 can go out and come back automatically to your satisfaction, it should be reliable for the rest of the season with little regular attention.

The LawnBott LB3500 does a top notch professional job actually cutting because the blade itself is razor thin.  Even when the blade is dull it is still very sharp compared to a regular lawn mower blade.

The LawnBott LB3500 is designed for low user maintenance, change the blade once or twice a year and proper winter storage is about all it takes.

The li-on batteries are designed to last about 4-5 years so changing those out is very rare. Robotic mowers in general require a good deal of energy to cut the lawn and for propulsion, so to get the this kind of longevity speaks volume for the quality of the mower.

The parts and software inside the LawnBott LB3500 are custom made and designed to be upgraded and replaced by the end user with little problems.  If a wheel motor goes bad it is a 10 minute project to replace.  The main board can be replaced in less than that.

Plan on frequent updates.  The LawnBott LB3500 is the next generation in mowers.  The manufacturer is still not sure of its capabilities and look for greater efficiencies in operation as well as hereto unthought-of features.

Honestly, right now the Bluetooth is more trouble than it is worth. That may not be the case in the future as LawnBott has big plans.  I think it is probably ahead of its time.

Pine cones and gumballs have proven no problem for the LawnBott LB3500.

The wider wheel base gives better stability on hills than the LawnBott Evolution and much better traction than the Robomower RL1000.  The spiked wheels give extra gripping power and the future battery over the wheels should make this a mountain goat.

The LawnBott LB3500 is designed for easy maintenance look for a life expectancy of 7-10 years.  Well, I say 7-10 years but most people are going to want to upgrade to the next super-generation every 4-5 years.  From that aspect, the mower will outlast people's desires before it reaches its useful life expectancy.

As a final note, remember, this is more technology than it is mower!  Be sure you are buying from a knowledgeable dealer who will be able to offer after the sale support.
